The parasitic copepod Antheacheres duebeni M. Sars 1857 and its relatives

Pages 297-304 | Accepted 30 May 1986, Published online: 21 Dec 2011

Abstract

The first drawings of living male and female Antheacheres made by the late Professor A. Brinkmann Sr, are published together with some anatomical observations on his serial sections. Based on this material a comparison is made with the original description of Antheacheres by M. Sars. This genus is also compared with the genera Staurosoma, Gastroecus, and Parastaurosoma. A closer systematic relation between Antheacheridae, Philichthyidae, and Chondracanthidae is indicated.
