Abstract

Wormsley, K. G. Response to Duodenal Acidification in Man. III. Comparison with the Effects of Secretin and Pancreozymin. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 353-360.

Patients with duodenal ulcer, with coeliac syndrome, and normal subjects received infusions of acid into the duodenum and into the jejunum. In normal subjects, the composition of the juicc secreted in response to the small intestinal acidification resembled the response to a potentiating combination of secretin and pancreozymin. An impaired secretory response to both duodenal and jejunal acidification was observed in patients with coeliac syndrome and with duodenal ulcer.
