Samarium Triiodide–Catalyzed Formation of Mannich‐Type Products by Amidoalkylation of 1,3‐Dicarbonyl Compounds

Abstract

With samarium triiodide (SmI3) as a catalyst, the amidoalkylation of 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds with N‐(1‐benzotriazol‐1‐ylalkyl)amides proceeded readily under mild conditions to afford Mannich‐type products in good to excellent yields.
