Abstract
Heterocyclic compounds have great importance in our daily life. Many of them have fundamental importance to living systems and heterocyclic compounds are a chief constituent in several biological processes. One more application of heterocyclic compounds is that they are intermediates in organic synthesis. In this review article, we have focused on the synthesis of heterocycles using guanidine. The applications of guanidine still have not been developed very much in the areas of Lewis base or nucleophilic organocatalysis, especially in the organic synthesis community. This field is growing and the chiral guanidines have gained an equally recognized position and have been developed as a common motif in organocatalysis.
