Abstract
The successful extension of the metal-alcohol-ammonia reducing conditions to certain benzo bi-and polycyclic olefins1, along with the published reduction of norbornadiene2 and bullvalene3 has led us to explore the scope of this reduction method using bridged alicyclic poly-olefins as substrates. Sodium, tert. butanol, ammonia and tetrahydrofuran (as co-solvent) were employed in the standard manner in all the following experiments.
