Abstract
As a result of the growing interest in the application of thiol esters in organic synthesis,2,3 efficient methods have been actively sought for their preparation. A number of methods have recently been developed for the condensation of carboxylic acids with thiols.2,4,5 We wish to describe a convenient procedure which compares favourably with those existing in terms of simplicity, efficiency, generality and, in particular, the applicability to acid and/or base sensitive compounds.
