Abstract

Bendiocarb and alphacypermethrin were blended to prepare the finishing solution for the preparation of anti-mosquito PET nets. The wash-resistant performance of the anti-mosquito PET nets was optimized by two-step finishing containing both mosquito resistance finishing and wash-resistant finishing. The content of insecticide on the PET nets before and after washing was determined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography. The retention index was calculated to evaluate the wash-resistant performance of the finished anti-mosquito nets; the effects of the concentration of adhesive agents on the wash-resistant performance were investigated systematically for the optimization of the overall anti-mosquito and wash-resistance finishing process. The formation mechanism of mosquito-resistant and wash-resistant layers can be characterized via scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Our experimental results indicate that the retention index of insecticide on the treated PET nets after 20 washing times can reach as high as 80%, the wash-resistant performance has been improved obviously in the comparison with the untreated PET nets.
