Abstract
The variation of yarn irregularity with drafting speed has been studied, and it is shown that, provided that spinning tension is maintained constant, no changes in yarn irregularity occur over the normal range of 2–16 m/min. However, at higher speeds (25–450 m/min), increases in irregularity of approximately 0·7% in coefficient of variation are obtained on a 21-tex yarn for every 100-m/min increase in drafting speed. The magnitude of the change varies with the yarn linear density.
