Abstract

In this paper, the influence of the rotor speed and twist multiplier on cotton open-end-spun yarns in relation to pre-spinning processing is studied. Hairiness measurements were made by means of the Digital Hairiness Tester developed at the I.T.Q.T. Four different pre-spinning processes were used, some involving the suppression of the drawframes and the use of autolevellers in the cards. The nature of the pre-spinning process and the rotor diameter and speed affect the yarn hairiness. Yarn twist influences hairiness from certain values of the twist multiplier upwards.
