8—THE CSIRO STAPLE STRENGTH/LENGTH SYSTEM PART II: AN EXAMINATION OF SOME PARAMETERS

Pages 72-82 | Received 15 Apr 1981, Accepted 03 Jun 1981, Published online: 01 Dec 2008

Abstract

The use is reported of the CSIRO Staple Strength/Length System, designed to provide measurements of staple strength and length as a potential aid to predicting the processing performance of greasy wool. A discussion of the merits of the energy and force results provided by the system and of an experimental examination of the effect of various independent parameters (such as sample regain, cross-section, and length) is presented.
