Abstract
We discuss applicability and use of the Vlasov equation in finite fermion systems focusing on nuclei and metal clusters. We present examples of applications in both these systems. We also discuss the necessity of extending the Vlasov equation to kinetic equations with collisional correlations in order to allow the description of strongly nonlinear dynamical regimes. Examples for the relevance of this extension are given again both for nuclei and metal clusters.
