IAFS 2023 extended abstracts & editorial board updates

ORCID Icon

Welcome to the first issue of 2024! Many of you hopefully managed to attend IAFS2023, which attracted more than 1,700 delegates from across the globe. The logistics required behind the scenes to manage such a large conference are indeed immense and complicated, and I offer my congratulations to the organizers for delivering a superb event. It is timely to remind those who presented at the conference that the Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences is offering the opportunity to publish extended abstracts in a forthcoming supplementary issue. The specific details are available on the website: https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/tajf20 and it will be guest edited by Professor Adrian Linacre.

Please make sure that your abstract is formatted in accordance with the instructions provided, including:

  • 1–3 (max) pages in length;

  • 1.5 spacing and using Times New Roman 12pt font;

  • Figures, tables and references form part of the 3-page limit;

  • Text to be compiled in the following order: abstract; keywords; main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgements; references;

  • Please include an affiliation for each author and a statement covering any Disclosures/Conflicts of Interest;

  • Submission deadline is 31 January.

There will be no extensive copyediting or the option for authors checks prior to publication – so please check them carefully before submitting!

In 2024 you will also see some changes to our editorial board, the first of which involve the Assistant Editor positions. I would like to thank Professor Chris Lennard, Western Sydney University, for his tenure as an Assistant Editor. Chris has been a long-serving member of the board and has made significant contributions to the Journal. I also wish Chris all the best as he embarks proper on his well-deserved retirement. Thanks also to Professor Gary Edmond, University of New South Wales, for his contributions to the Journal, with his position as an Assistant Editor coming to a close at the end of 2023. At this time, I now welcome Professor Adrian Linacre, Flinders University, into the position of Assistant Editor.
