Following the publication of the monograph by Rubarth (Citation1947), canine viral hepatitis (C.V.H.) has been shown to have a world-wide distribution. Numerous accounts of the clinical, epidemiological, and pathological features of this disease have been published in the last decade (Rubarth, Citation1947; Coffin, Citation1948; Parry, Citation1950; Pay, Citation1950; Smith, Citation1956), and Thordal-Christenseu (Citation1957) has recently reviewed the world literature. This paper briefly discusses classical fatal C.V.H. and presents several additional features of the disease as encountered in New Zealand.
