The available literature on parasites of wild ruminants in New Zealand has tended to aim at a particular host species or a particular group of parasites — e.g., CitationSweatman and Williams (1962) on the taeniids of wild ruminants, CitationAndrews (1964) on the arthropod and helminth parasites of red deer. The present work arises from a broader study of the parasites of wild ruminants, parts of which have already been published (CitationAndrews, 1969a, Citationb, Citation1970a, Citationb). The first of these papers, a key to the wild ruminant parasites, will be complemented by the present work which consists of a checklist and notes on cross-infection between wild and domestic ruminants.
