The paper by Brownlie et al. published in the New Zealand Veterinary Journal 64 (6), pages 324–9, 2016, entitled, “Accuracy of fetal age estimates using transrectal ultrasonography for predicting calving dates in dairy cows in seasonally calving herds in New Zealand”, was published with errors at the end of the penultimate paragraph on page 328.
The final two sentences should read:
“When the fetus was <12 weeks old at diagnosis veterinarians were more likely to diagnose the fetus as younger than it actually was, resulting in the cow calving earlier than predicted. Similarly, for each extra week of fetal age >12 weeks at diagnosis, veterinarians were increasingly likely to diagnose the fetus as older than it actually was, resulting in the cow calving later than predicted.”
