Notes
1For an insightful treatment of an array of issues pertaining to challenging racism, classism, sexism, and heterosexism in higher education, see Stockdill and Danico's anthology, Transforming the Ivory Tower: Challenging Racism, Sexism and Homophobia in the Academy.
2I am often surprised at the extent to which those outside of women's or gender studies are unfamiliar with the feminist critiques of positivism and objectivity. I take the general lack of knowledge of these criticisms as a barometer of the relative ghettoization of women's studies and related fields, like ethnic studies, in the academe.
