Differentiation, Change and Continuity in Anglo-Saxon Buildings

Pages 366-402 | Published online: 22 Dec 2014

Abstract

A data base containing details of all the published Anglo-Saxon buildings constructed in timber has been created in the course of previous work. In this paper, a systematic analysis of the contents of the data base is presented with particular reference to regional differences in the buildings and their chronological development. From this, spatial and temporal patterns of evolution of the buildings are determined, and are briefly compared with those of Anglo-Saxon culture as a whole.
