Towards belonging: negotiating new relationships for adopted children and those in care

Pages 323-328 | Published online: 23 Sep 2015

Notes

1. In 2009 two brothers tortured and sexually abused two other brothers whom they abducted at random from the town of Edlington in South Yorkshire. The subsequent serious case review noted that the attackers came from a violent and chaotic family who were well known to local child protection services. Apparently there were 31 missed opportunities to intervene with the boy’s family. In the assessment of one of the attackers, Dr. Vizard recommended intensive treatment to prevent serious risk and psychopathology (Walker and Wainwright, Citation2010).
