Abstract
A new sponge, Guitarra solorzanoi n.sp. is described from the Ría de Ferrol (Northwest Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula). The skeletal arrangement and spicular elements are illustrated. The new species differs from the other species of the genus mainly in the morphology of its microscleres, in particular the spiny isochelae. An identification key to the ten species of the genus is supplied.
