Viola ferrarinii (Violaceae), a new species from the northern Apennines (Italy)

Summary

A new species of violet, Viola ferrarinii Moraldo & Ricceri, endemic to the rock-faces and the orohypsophilic meadows of the northern Apennines is described. Reported here are the morphological, chorological, karyological and phyto-chemical characteristics of the species compared with those of its neighboring relatives: Viola eugeniae Parl. subsp. eugeniae to the south and V. cavillieri Becker to the north.

Viene descritta una nuova specie di viola: Viola ferrarinii Moraldo & Ricceri endemismo delle pareti rocciose e dei prati oroipsofili dell'Appennino settentrionale. Sono riportate le caratteristiche morfologiche, corologiche, cariologiche e fitochimiche della specie rispetto alle confinanti entità: Viola eugeniae subsp. eugeniae a Sud e V. cavillieri a Nord.
