Photogalvanic effect was studied in photogalvanic cells containing toluidine blue as photosensitizer, ethylenediamine tetra acitic acid as reductant and sodium lauryl sulphate, cetyl pyridinium chloride, Tween-80 as surfactants in different systems. The photopotential and photocurrent generated were 743.0 mV and 70.0 μA in EDTA-TB-NaLS system, 762.0 mV and 35.0 μA in EDTA-TB-CPC system, and 430.0 mV and 50.0 μA in EDTA-TB-Tween-80 system, respectively. The effects of different parameters on electrical output of the cell were observed, and a mechanism has been proposed for the generation of photocurrent in photogalvanic cell.
