Abstract
Stimuli responsive nanocarriers proved to be an efficient system in accurate diagnosis and targeted delivery of therapeutic moieties. Enzymes have been researched widely as successful targeting agents among various endogenous and exogenous stimuli responsive systems and employed as bio-nanotechnological tool due to their intrinsic presence, higher specificity and catalytic action in various biological processes. Nanosystems are fabricated possessing unique responsiveness toward enzymes that are elevated at pathological sites leading to targeted release of drugs at diseased site. This review discusses various enzymes and explores recently developed nanocarriers responsive to enzymes with versatile extracellular and intracellular drug delivery applications.
