Summary
Suicidal patients were compared with nonsuicidal patients based on symptomatology observed upon admission to the hospital. Suicidal Ss were more anxious and depressed than controls and demonstrated less psychotic type symptoms. No differences were found between suicidal Ss relative to type of gesture. The discriminate analysis method was extended to provide for insertion of symptom vectors into the discriminate space, thus presenting a graphic picture of group symptomatology. Success of computer recognition of individual suicidal patients from their symptom rating profiles was limited.
