Abstract

The reactions of lanthanide isopropoxide (Pr, Nd, Sm, Dy and Ho) with acetoacetanilide in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios in refluxing benzene yielded products of the type Ln(OPr1)2(Ac.An.) and Ln(OPr1)(Ac.An.)2 (where Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Dy and Ho and Ac.An. is the anion of the acetoacetanilide). All these complexes are microcrystalline solids with a colour characteristic of the trivalent oxidation state of the corresponding lanthanide ion. The compounds were characterized by means of chemical analyses and infrared spectra.
