Abstract
Some new mixed-ligand cyanonitrosyl complexes of chromium(I) with the formulation [CrNO(CN)2 (L)2]n (where L= 2-, 3-, or 4-(aminomethyl)pyridine) and [CrNO(CN)2(L′)2(H2O)] (where L′= 2-, 3-, or 4-pyridinecarboxaldehyde, 6-methyl-2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde or 2,6-pyridinecarboxaldehyde have been synthesized by the substitution of the cyano groups in K3[CrNO(CN)5]. H2O by the above ligands L and L′. The complexes have been characterized in the solid state on the basis of elemental analyses, room temperature magnetic measurements, electron spin resonance and infrared spectral studies. Suitable structures have been proposed for the complexes. Chromium(I) has a low-spin d5-configuration in all the complexes.
