Abstract

Triorganoantimony(V) compounds of the type R3SbBrL, where R is phenyl or methyl group and L is a bidentate anionic group of ethyl acetoacetate (eaa), salicyaldehyde (sal), o-hydroxyacetophenone (hap) and 2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyd (hna) have been prepared. Molecular weight determinations in freezing benzene indicate that these molecules are monomeric in benzene solution. Elemental analyses, IR and PMR data suggest that L acts as a bidentate ligand furnishing an octahedral environment for the antimony atom.
