Preparation and Characterization of Diorganotellurium(IV) Amides and Oximates, R₂TeL₂ and R₂ TeXL

Abstract

Several hitherto unreported tetra-coordinate diorganotellurium(IV) oximate and amide complexes of the general formula Me₂ TeIL and Me₂TeL₂, where L = ONCRR′ (R) R′ = Ph, Ph; Me, Ph and -(CH₂)₅; L = -NR′₂ = have been prepared by the metathesis of Me₂TeI₂ with the appropriate organic moiety, either in presence of Et₃N as hydrogen iodide acceptor or with the respective sodium salt of the ligand. The newly synthesized complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, solid state infrared and ¹H nmr spectra, molecular weight and conductance data. A tentative trigonal bipyramidal structure has been suggested for these complexes.
