Abstract
Several hitherto unreported tetra-coordinate diorganotellurium(IV) oximate and amide complexes of the general formula Me2 TeIL and Me2TeL2, where L = ONCRR′ (R) R′ = Ph, Ph; Me, Ph and -(CH2)5; L = -NR′2 = have been prepared by the metathesis of Me2TeI2 with the appropriate organic moiety, either in presence of Et3N as hydrogen iodide acceptor or with the respective sodium salt of the ligand. The newly synthesized complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, solid state infrared and 1H nmr spectra, molecular weight and conductance data. A tentative trigonal bipyramidal structure has been suggested for these complexes.
