Synthesis of Tetrakis(isopropylisocyanide)bis(1,2-bis{diphenyl-arsino}ethane)cobalt(II) Perchlorate. Monodentate Coordination by a Normally Chelating Bidentate Ligand

Abstract

The Co(II) complex, [Co(CNCHMe₂)₄ (Ph₂AsCH₂CH₂AsPh₂)₂] (CIO₄)₂, was synthesized by the reaction of [Co₂(CNCHMe₂) ₁₀] (ClO₄)₄ ˙ 5H₂O with excess Ph₂AsCH₂CH₂AsPh₂. Characterization data in the solid state are consistent with six-coordinate, tetragonal coordination in which the Ph₂AsCH₂CH₂AsPh₂ ligands are monodentate. This complex has limited stability in solution.
