Editor'S Note

A note of gratitude

The publication of our articles occurs thanks to the extraordinary editorial work of seasoned scholars who go above and beyond the call of duty to select the very best of manuscripts that are published today in the field of environmental and sustainability education. Their work involves constant communication with the authors, and innumerable hours of editorial toil. This invisible work is never recognized enough in our field, and particularly when there are transitions from one editorial team to the next. Given that articles often take many months, sometimes years, to see the light of publication, editorial members that accept an article but are no longer present in the journal do not receive the acknowledgement they deserve given that a new editorial team has taken over. In this instance, I want to extend my gratitude to two remarkable professors who, for many years, have been instrumental in publishing, both as authors and as editors, some of the very best scholarship in our field: JEE’s former Special Issues Editor Philip G. Payne, from Monash University; and JEE’s former Editor-in-Chief Robert B. Stevenson, from James Cook University.

As such, I want to recognize that in JEE’s Volume 51 Number 1, several of the articles were published in their final form under the editorial leadership of Robert B. Stevenson (with Executive Editors Paul Hart and Hilary Whitehouse).

In addition, in JEE’s Volume 51 Number 2 all of the articles published in that number, with Guest Editor Cae Rodrigues, were accepted by Phillip G. Payne as the previous Special Issues Editor.

And finally, Phillip G. Payne also served as editor of the article “Democracy and the (missing) politics in environmental education” by David Orr (Volume 51 Number 4).

En agradecimiento,

Alberto Arenas
