Abstract
Reaction of 2,2′-bipyridine-N,N′-dioxide (bipyO2) with Sm(NO3)3·6H2O and K3Fe(CN)6 affords a novel cyano-bridged complex Sm(bipyO2)2(H2O)2Fe(CN)6·4H2O (SmFe). The title complex crystallizes in the triclinic space group with lattice parameters a = 10.3230(14), b = 12.5102(18), c = 13.8996(19) Å, α = 85.273(2), β = 88.170(2), γ = 70.525(2)°, its single-crystal X-ray structure refined to R 1 = 0.0371, wR 2 = 0.0772. The luminescence of SmFe quenches more easily than binary samarium complex with bipyO2.
