Abstract

The ligand 1-(2-furylmethylene)-2-(2-furyl)benzimidazole (L), CoL2Cl2 (1), ZnL2(NO3)2 (2), CdL2(CH3COO)2 (3), and CoL2(NO3)2 (4) were synthesized in excellent yields using a simple and convenient method. These complexes were characterized by UV–vis spectra, IR spectra, elemental analysis, and Thermogravimetric analysis. Single crystals of 1–3 were obtained and their structures were determined by X-ray structure analysis. Luminescence of these complexes was also investigated.
