Abstract

Six new metal complexes with two kinds of phenyl substituted pyrazole carboxylic acid, [Co(L1)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)2]n (1), [Ni(L1)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)2]n (2), [Cu(L1)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)2]n (3), [Co(L2)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)]n (4), [Ni(L2)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)]n (5), and [Cu(L2)2(4,4′-bipy)]n (6) (HL1 = 3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid; HL2 = 5-chloro-3-methyl-1phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid; 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine), were prepared and structurally characterized. Complexes 1–6 display 1-D structures and further extend to 3-D supramolecular networks by hydrogen bonding interactions; 1–3 consist of left- and right-handed helical chains and 4–6 contain zig-zag chains. Antibacterial activities of 1–6 against bacteria were studied and compared to the activities of free ligands.
