Abstract

The first sample of triethanolamine-functionalized hexamolybdoarsenate [(HOCH2CH2)3NH]n(H3O)n[{Mn(H2O)2}0.5Mn(H2O)3{HN(CH2CH2O)3AsVMo6O22}]n·3.25nH2O (1) has been synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray analysis showed that a new kind of heteropolyanion [HN(CH2CH2O)3AsVMo6O22]5− is linked by Mn2+ ions forming a zig-zag chain. The magnetic properties of 1 have been studied by measuring its magnetic susceptibility from 2.0 to 300.0 K, indicating the existence of antiferromagnetic interactions.
