Abstract
The severe acute respiratory syndrome - coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has impacted the quality of life worldwide. While effective vaccinations are being globally distributed, there remains a need for therapeutic antiviral agents to complement the existing treatment modalities. In addition to small organic molecule inhibitors, some research efforts have also been devoted towards metal complexes as novel antivirals. In this article, the application of rhenium complexes as potential antiviral agents is discussed.
