Abstract
The synthesis and some preliminary experimental results concerning nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of new chromophores based on imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine are presented. Chromophore molecules were embedded in PMMA matrix and second-order susceptibility χ(2) was induced through dc-electric poling. The highest achieved value of the second-order susceptibility was equal to about 18.56 pm/V at 1064 nm laser wavelength. We have not observed a simple correlation between bulk second-order susceptibilities χ(2) of measured samples and theoretically calculated molecular first-order hyperpolarizabilities β.
