Abstract
Much has been learned about the characteristics of burnout of straight wires; however, the author decided to again consider lamp burnout by coil defects rather than by wire defects. His approach is to equate the coil defect to the straight wire diameter defect. The results suggest that much care is required in the maintenance of the intended original coil geometry.
