Abstract
This paper discusses a computerized optimization procedure for aiming floodlights to meet typical sports lighting design criteria. A mathematical formulation of the general aiming problem is presented and compared with other possible methods of attacking the problem. Examples of aiming applications of different size and complexity are presented, together with run-time characteristics of their computer solutions. An extension of the method employed to indoor applications is suggested.
