Abstract
Polycrystalline alumina arc tubes incorporating novel cermet closures/leads through have been used in an extensive investigation of low power discharges (less than 200 W) in Sn-Na-Cl-I-Hg-A vapors culminating in an efficient 150-W lamp design. The influence of dosing concentrations and properties of arc tube materials and geometry on lamp efficiency and color are presented along with relevant energy balances.
