1. There are five Nordic countries – Denmark (including dependencies Faeroe Islands and Greenland), Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden – and three Scandinavian countries – Denmark, Norway and Sweden – and, depending on classification of dialects, at least five North Germanic languages (sometimes called Nordic or Scandinavian) – Danish, Faeroese, Icelandic, Norwegian (in two versions), Swedish and possibly Elfdalian.
