Abstract
Four chiral homologous series of 6-substituted naphthyl-2 p-alkoxybenzoates have been synthesized. They display the ferroelectric smectic C* phase. In addition to N*, SA and SC* two of them exhibit a blue phase. A comparison between these series and another series having the same molecular length is given in order to check the influence of different molecular parameters (rigidity and length of the central rigid core‥) on the mesomorphic range and transition temperatures.
