ABSTRACT
In this paper we report measurements on the splay and twist elastic constants (k11 and k22), the splay and twist viscotic constants (ηSplay γ), and the dielectric constants (ϵ∥ and ϵ⊥) over a wide temperature range for the nematic mixture, E130. We have used electric field dynamic light scattering to determine the elastic and viscotic constants and a capacitance technique to determine the dielectric constants. In the latter case these constants are also given as a function of frequency of the applied field. The twist viscosity data has been analysed in detail in terms of its temperature dependence.
