Abstract

Approximate expressions are derived for the phenomenological coefficients for vacancy-mechanism matter transport in a simple model of an alloy which can order in certain states. The leading coefficients (moments) in the Taylor series expansions in powers of time of the time correlation functions are calculated by a new procedure and used to construct two approximations to the Mori continued-fraction representation. Numerical results for the transport coefficients from these approximations are discussed in the light of some computer simulation results. It is concluded that the Mori method previously applied to the random alloy model can be applied with comparable efficacy to the model showing ordering, but further computational developments are needed for a quantitative theory.
