Abstract
An effect of fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) lining from inside surface of a conventional solar distiller on its performance has been studied in terms of daily yield per KWh. The comparisons have been made between the results of with and without FRP lining from inside distiller unit. It is observed that there is an appreciable increase in daily yield due to reduction of heat losses from base and sides of distiller unit. Economic evaluation has also been carried out. The following recommendations based on experimental results have been made (i) concrete solar distiller unit gives better yield than G.I. and FRP distiller units at larger depth. (ii) concrete distiller unit is more economical than the other two units
