Abstract

In the present study, an adaptive differential evolution tuned hybrid Fuzzy Proportional Derivative-Proportional Integral structure is suggested for automatic generation control (AGC) of power systems. In the beginning, a two-area thermal system (non-reheat type) is assumed and the hybrid fuzzy PD-PI controller is employed for AGC. The advantage of the suggested method is presented by relating with newly proposed approaches. In the next step, the approach is employed for the second test system and the superior responses are compared with some newly published results. Furthermore, the suggested method is also extended for two-area four-unit hydro-thermal power system. Finally, the stability analysis of proposed approach with perturbation in plant parameters has been analysed in terms of gain margins and phase margins. In order to validate the feasibility of the suggested approach, experimental validation using the Hardware-in-the-Loop real-time simulation based on OPAL-RT has been performed.
