ABSTRACT
In this work, the performance characteristics of four-stroke, single-cylinder, water-cooled diesel engine fuelled with neat palm biodiesel and palm biodiesel mixed with CuO2 nanoparticles were investigated. CuO2 nanoparticles are added to neat palm biodiesel at different concentrations to view its impact on the performance outline. The obtained results are compared with neat palm biodiesel (PBD100). Two samples of CuO2 nanoparticles are mixed into neat palm biodiesel at 50 and 100 ppm. The addition of CuO2 nanoparticle in palm biodiesel reduces the BSFC and EGT by 0.6%, and 1.2% respectively under peak load condition. The CuO2 nanoparticle inclusion at 100 ppm improves the BTE by 0.6% when compared to PBD100 at full load conditions.
