ABSTRACT
The current crisis of fossil fuels along with the increasing cost of fossil fuels, the growing population of vehicles and emissions from these fuels are made to a search of substitute fuels for the combustion ignition engines. The best alternative for diesel is considered to be biodiesel because of its distinctive properties such as a crucial reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, non-sulphur emissions, non-particulate matter pollutants, low toxicity, and biodegradability. The fuels, the Prosopis juliflora biodiesel blended with diesel were identified and tested in this research work. The biodiesel is produced by transesterification of Prosopis juliflora seed oil with methanol in the presence of either alkaline or strong acid catalysts. The various properties of their blends are calculated and compared with those of diesel. This investigation evaluates thermal efficiency, fuel consumption, and emission characteristics of Prosopis juliflora blends in a diesel engine, and the results are compared with neat diesel.
