Abstract

Nowadays, governments worldwide are confined to the usage of fossil fuels, which are emitting more harmful emissions to nature. Thereby, some novel approaches that curb fossil fuel addiction, and environmental degradation plays an imperative role nowadays. The technologies that help effective utilisation of solar energy are immediately required. In line with this, an effort is made to use solar energy effectively by making some changes in the solar water heating system. In this study, Magnesium Oxide (MgO) nanoparticles are prepared in-house and characterised. Later, the study unfolds the effect of reflective coatings on the performance of the solar water heating system. The solar water heating system with the MgO nano-coated reflective plate shows better performance (heat flux and Reynolds no.) than the reflective plate without nano-coating.
