Abstract
On 11 May 2005, a team from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) acquired the first aerial imagery of a refugee camp using a kite. Their work among Sudanese refugees in Eastern Chad demonstrates the potential of kite aerial photography as a means to acquire rapid imagery in complex humanitarian emergencies.
