Belief salience and interpersonal impression formation: An extension of the constructivist position

Pages 19-25 | Published online: 21 May 2009

This paper investigates the salience of constructs in impression formation. High complexity subjects showed a tendency to elicit more important constructs earJy. This effect did not obtain among low complexity subjects. The theoretical rationale for the study argues for the interpenetration of nomic and practical force in contrast to the recently advanced position of Cushman and Pearce.
