Abstract

The aim of the present article is to study the propagation of Rayleigh surface waves in homogeneous transversely isotropic medium. The problem is considered under the purview of three-phase-lag model in an initially stressed magneto-thermoelastic half-space. Normal mode analysis is employed to the considered equations and eigenvalue approach is used to obtain the expressions for the displacements, stresses, and temperature. The frequency equations of Rayleigh surface waves are derived, and different cases are discussed. The effect of magnetic field and initial stress on the phase velocity and attenuation coefficient of Rayleigh waves are presented graphically.
